The historic Národní dům in the center of Podbořany has undergone a complete transformation in recent years. Today, it operates as a modern wellness hotel featuring a conference center, a restaurant, and apartments. And because any truly high-quality renovation goes beyond mere aesthetics, we also focused on what happens "beneath the surface"—efficient energy management.
As part of the project, we implemented an energy management system that helps us monitor and analyze our consumption of electricity, gas, heat, and water. This gives us a better overview of the entire facility's operations and allows us to continuously identify further opportunities for savings. After all, while guessing consumption by eye might be a traditional practice, it is not exactly a smart strategy.
What did we implement as part of the project?
- Online monitoring of electricity and gas,
- Water consumption monitoring,
- Analysis of all 4 operational units,
- Staff training—from reception to the event halls,
- Energy policy and objectives,
- A savings action plan with a concrete roadmap,
- Preparation for an on-site photovoltaic power plant.
Results and benefits
Národní dům Podbořany now works with data from a total of 4 operational units. Thanks to the newly implemented measures, we anticipate annual savings of 1.6 to 2.2 million CZK. Electricity accounts for approximately 45% of total costs, making its efficient management a top priority.
The project also includes the implementation of a system based on the ISO 50001 standard, which focuses on the systematic management of energy consumption and long-term improvements in energy efficiency.
An old building. New energy.
The project aims not only to reduce costs but also to operate the historic building in a modern, responsible, and future-oriented manner. We monitor every kilowatt-hour, track heat, electricity, and water consumption, and are preparing for on-site energy generation using a photovoltaic system.
Národní dům Podbořany thus combines the building's historic value with smart, sustainable operations—exactly what a place like this deserves.
