In a former kaolin quarry between Podbořany and Nepomyšl, you will find a beautiful small lake and natural swimming spot known as Maledivy.
This swimming spot earned its nickname thanks to a stunning color combination—azure blue water and dazzling white sand—reminiscent of the beaches and sea of Maledivy.
Kaolin is no longer mined here; the small lake is enjoyed by swimming enthusiasts in both summer and winter—when even cold-water swimming devotees take a dip in the turquoise waters.
And although it is a natural swimming spot, you can look forward to attractions such as a slide down the kaolin hill, an improvised movable diving platform, swimming, wading, or building white sandcastles.
Route and useful information
You can only reach the lake shore on foot or by bicycle. Cars are prohibited and the quarry is on private property. You can find the quarry along Road No. 221, running from Podbořany to Nepomyšl. After traveling roughly 5 km from Podbořany, turn left; the swimming area is about 300 meters ahead.
